Elizabeth Klug Leonard-Rould ’46 Makes Bequest to Trinity to Provide Opportunities for Future Students

Elizabeth Klug Leonard-Rould ’46

While attending Trinity High School, Elizabeth Klug Leonard-Rould ’46 spent her free time working at the Brookfield Zoo. During these formative four years she developed a true passion for animals and nature conservation. Liz carried that passion, and her appreciation of the education she received at Trinity, with her throughout her lifetime.

Understanding the importance of a Trinity education, Liz and her first husband, Ed Leonard, sent their only daughter Christine to Trinity. After Christine graduated, the couple moved to rural Lakeside, Michigan in 1967, eventually splitting their time between Michigan and Sanibel, Florida. Liz spent much of her time in both Michigan and Sanibel outdoors, observing wildlife and enjoying nature.

After Ed passed away, and following the death of her second husband, Donald Rould, in 2019, Liz decided to donate her Michigan property to Chikaming Open Lands—creating a 108-acre wildlife preserve. “Living there was a gift to me. I wanted to make a gift back to the community for the enjoyment of everyone,” Liz said.

In gratitude for the education both she and her daughter received at Trinity, Liz also decided to give back to her alma mater by naming Trinity in her will. Through her estate, Liz was able to make a meaningful gift that will provide the next generation of students the opportunity to discover their passion within Trinity’s supportive all-girls environment. “Trinity is blessed with alumnae like Liz who have chosen to create a legacy through a bequest,” notes Maggie McMahon McGarry ’98, Director of Development.
